What do you need the quadratic formula for? Just do this:

x^2 – 7x – 6 = 0
x^2 -6x + 1x -6 = 0
x(x-6) + 1(x-6) = 0
(x-6)(x+1) = 0

x = -1, 6

Welcome! good luck. The actual working it out is tedious. Just be careful with the negatives, that always throws me off.
