(GEOMETRY HELP PLEASE! ) A ladder leans against a house at a 60° angle to the ground. House with a ladder measuring 166 inches forming a right triangle. The base angle formed by the ladder is 60 degrees. If the ladder extends to a length of 166 inches, what is the height of the house rounded to the nearest hundredth of an inch? Type the numeric answer only
@jim_thompson5910 Could you help me with this one please? :)
are you familiar with trigonometry?
@jim_thompson5910 Yeah but It's still a little hazy
do you recall that sine = opposite/hypotenuse?
notice how the angle 60 is opposite the unknown side, so we can say sin(60) = x/166 and x = 166*sin(60)
@jim_thompson5910 Oh okay! Would that be -50.5985?
make sure your calculator is in degree mode (not radian mode)
@jim_thompson5910 I tried again and I got 143.76
good, I'm getting the same thing as well
Ok good!! :) @jim_thompson5910 Thank you so much!
