plz help urgent.. , why sin 30 = 1/2, and not sin 45 = 1/2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since sin 90 = 1, sin 0 = 0, its intuitive to think sin 45 = 1/2, why isn't it so... could you plz give a quick explanation wid practical example maybe plzzzzz

hartnn (hartnn):

sin function is not linear to think that its intuitive for sin 45 to be avg of sin 0 and sin 90.....seen the graph of sine function ?

its clear that its more than half... but still not feeling free... where we use this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean any example where, when we make half angle, we make more than half of something

the graph of sine function looks like this: |dw:1350974242521:dw|
