Equation in vertex form is y= a(x-h)^2 +k where h,k is the vertex of the parabola drawn. can u find the co-ordinates of vertex from the graph ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

150?

hartnn (hartnn):

the vertex is a pair of points (h,k) where this graph hits its maximum at which point is this graph max ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry I mean 50,150

hartnn (hartnn):

yeah, thats correct, so h=50, k = 150 now you only need a any ideas how to get it....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/3

hartnn (hartnn):

nopes, how did u get that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait is it 50/30

hartnn (hartnn):

u have point 0,0 which lie on this curve so just put x=0, y=0 in y= a(x-h)^2 +k and u already have h=50,k=150 so u get a

hartnn (hartnn):

0=a(0-50)^2+150 a=-150/50^2=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9

hartnn (hartnn):

-150/50^2 = -150/2500 = -15/250 = -3/50 so the final equation becomes y= - (3/50)(x-50)^2 +150

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx i think i get it some what :)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
