I need help with substitution. please 4x-3y= 38 5x+y=38 A)y=-2 B)y=-8 C)y=2 D)y=3

OpenStudy (phi):

Are you asking how to solve this pair of equations for the (x,y) that "works" for both, using substitution? if so, can you solve for y, using the 2nd equation: 5x+y=38

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I don't think so..? I just had to pick which letter (a,b,c, or d) works for it..?
