If a bacterial cell undergoing binary fission failed to replicate its DNA before the division process occurred, what might result? *Each daughter cell would continue on with one-half of the parent cell’s genes. *One daughter cell would receive no DNA but would continue to survive because it acquired all other cell components. *At least one cell would die because it would not have a complete copy of every gene. *The cell would switch to a sexual mode of reproduction. 4. An advantage of sexual reproduction over asexual reproduction is that sexual reproduction...?
The options for 4 are takes less time. requires more time. provides genetic diversity. produces identical offspring.
During binary fission, the single DNA molecule replicates and both copies attach to the cell membrane. The cell membrane begins to grow between the two DNA molecules. Once the bacterium just about doubles its original size, the cell membrane begins to pinch inward. A cell wall then forms between the two DNA molecules dividing the original cell into two identical daughter cells.
So for the first one it would be A, and the second one would be D?
You got it , thats right . Asexual reproduction doesn't require a mate, a true bonus for species who for one reason or another don't congregate. Serxual reproduction introduces new genes often producing better offspring.
opps sorry , the answer to 4 is A - takes less time
Thank you, I knew what the both of them were, but I wasn't sure if that was the advantage on the last one or not. And I didn't really understand the first question.
Oh, okay! ^-^
Actually, both of those were wrong on the quiz... 3. If a bacterial cell undergoing binary fission failed to replicate its DNA before the division process occurred, what might result? (1 pt) At least one cell would die because it would not have a complete copy of every gene. 4. An advantage of sexual reproduction over asexual reproduction is that sexual reproduction . (1 pt) provides genetic diversity.
Thing is its tricky becuase it takes less time but also provides genetic diversity . Go with genetic diversity , sorry for the confusion . Asexual reproduction doesn't require a mate, a true bonus for species who for one reason or another don't congregate. Serxual reproduction introduces new genes often producing better offspring.
1.d 2.d 3.c 4.c
thanks @delaneyparris 4/4 100% !! :)
