Can someone explain how to find the values of x and y that maximize or minimize the objective function of this graph?
All you have to do is insert the given points into the formula
for the minimum you insert all the points in for each point and find the lowest value you get, your minimum will be at that point. for the maximum, it is the opposite of the minimum, you do the same thing as said above but you are instead trying to find the highest value.
Basically, they should have wrote the formula as P(x,y) = 4x + y P(x,y) = x + y So now what you do is, test out a few points like P(2,1) = 4(2) + 1 = 9 Now test P(0,5) afterwards, test P(3,0) Whichever gives the lowest value is the minimum
