[3.03] Let A = {7, 8, 9, 10} and let B = {3, 4}. Find A X B. (5 points) {3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10} { } {(7, 3), (7, 4), (8, 3), (8, 4), (9, 3), (9, 4), (10, 3), (10, 4)} {3, 4} 10. The domain of the following relation: R: {(−4, 3), (3, 6), (−2, 1), (3, 6)} is (5 points) {1, 3, 6}. {–4, 3, −2, 3}. {–4, −2, 3}. No domain exists.

AxB creates a set of ordered pairs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks (:

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep, and for the second one; domain is all the first numbers from the ordered pairs that they gave you. write down the firsts, and if a number is repeated more than once, the duplicates can be ignored.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is it the second answer? @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

The domain of the following relation: R: {(−4, 3), (3, 6), (−2, 1), (3, 6)} is {1, 3, 6}. {–4, 3, −2, 3}. <-- notice that this has 3 in it more than once, so it is not "proper" {–4, −2, 3}. No domain exists.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

erase one of the 3s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait what??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So theres no domain?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you erase one of the 3s from the second option; are you left with NO numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its the third answer right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

erase means to remove, get rid of, omit, take out of, delete. one of the 3s: refers to a number that looks like a 3 yes, its the third option ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks sooo much! I understand now (: @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck
