plot the graph of y=2x2+7x-4? Thanks before that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sheldonEinstein

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you should be able to determine at most, 4 points that will help define this in a unique manner and make a sketch of the graph.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y intercept x intecepts (0, 1, or 2) vertex

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the intent is to plot all the points, then you will simply need to make a table of values; which is very time consuming

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amistre64: Can you help me to draw the graph?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, we would need to determine the points that i listed

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x=0, the y intercept (the value of y) is what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 can you help me to draw the graph? and how about the vertex and y intercept

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sorry, but the OpenStudy is playing tricks with my computer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 how about the value of vetex and y intercept?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y intercept is when x = 0 vertex uses the form -b/2a ; or simply find the center between the zeros

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you can restructure the equation by "completing the square" to reform it into the vertex form; or simply use the -b/2a to define the y value

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you know the quadraticv formula, you can even pull off the zeros\[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 ok, thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome if you want to check your graph sketch, the wolf is pretty good at it
