OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the solution of the following system? {3x + 3y = 10 { -9x - 9y = -30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help with this problem, that's why I'm asking here..

OpenStudy (baldymcgee6):

Do you know any of the methods used to solve systems of equations? Or have heard of any?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to eliminate or substitute a variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We just started learning this and I am having a hard time understanding how to solve them.

OpenStudy (baldymcgee6):

What method do you want to use? Substitution or elimination?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We use both as far as I can see right now, but it does not specify which method with this problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i will show you how to do it using elimination

OpenStudy (anonymous):

{3x + 3y = 10 { -9x - 9y = -30 to get 3x = 9x what should we multiply 3x by

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 3*what=9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok multiply the 1st equation by 3 what do you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18, I think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no just multiply each term by 3 then write the whole equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind. I'm just going to contact my teacher again. Thanks for the help.
