How is multiplying and dividing rational numbers similar to multiplying and diving integers

a rational number is usually any number that is expressed as a quotient like pi can be called a rational number i.e 22/7. Integers are simply whole numbers, so any rational number can be multiplied by multiplying across and any rational number can be divided by multiplying by the reciprocal.
