Think about cell transport. In your own words, describe passive and active transport and facilitated diffusion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

passive transport(diffusion), is a cell transport mechanism that doesn't use energy. The particles use the kinetic energy to move to the lower gradient concentration on the other side of the membrane. The speed of diffusion is affected by temperature, mass of molecule, distance, etc. active transport on the other side, move from the lower gradient concentration to the higher concentration, so it needs energy. the energy comes from ATP(primary) and energy saved in the ion gradient concentration(secondary). facilitated diffusion is diffusion with the help from protein membrane because the particle can't pass the membrane (too big or with high polarity). So, the protein mediated the cell transport. this protein comes in two form: channel and carrier. Channel used for the particle with high polarity. Carrier used for the big particles.
