Bird species have a number of offspring each season, referred to as fecundity. Fecundity is directly related to the availability of resources. How does the relationship of fecundity and resource availability relate to natural selection? The availability of resources influences the reproductive success of the parents. It is better to limit the number of offspring and increase offspring survival. The number of offspring has no relationship to natural selection. Species always have as many offspring as possible. Offspring survival is not an element of natural selection.
