this one is not arithmetic either, because it is 4.5 difference between -9 and -4.5, and the same as -.5 to 4, but it is 4 between -4.5 and -.5 arithmetic sequences will have a constant difference between terms. the difference is denoted as d in the formula, the number of terms is n, and the starting value is \[a_1\]. hope this helps

the formula itself is \[a_n=a_1+(n-1)d\], and to find a certain term in the sequence, you would then use \[S_n=n(a_1+a_n)/2\]. Not quite sure if you're at that stage of algebra yet though, so you probably don't need to worry about the formulas. no problem :)
