A trapezoid is drawn on a grid with vertices at P (-5, 7), Q (-2, 7), R (2, 3), and S (-8, 3). Trapezoid UVWX will be drawn similar to Trapezoid PQRS with side WX corresponding to side RS. The point (8, -4) will be the location of vertex W and point (-12, -4) will be the location of point X. What will be the coordinates of vertex V? Show all your work or explain your reasoning.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the trapezoids are similar, so because WX corresponds to RS, we can say WX/RS = k where k is some number

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the idea is to find k by first finding WX and RS then you use this to figure out where X will go

There's an even easier way to do it, believe it or not
