any easy ways to remember measurements
What sort of measurements? Imperial or metric? Volume or length? Etc.
metric
If you're having trouble with metres/centimetres, etc, there really is no "easy" way out. You need to just memorize that there are 100cm per m, 1000m per km, etc. It's a bit easier if you know French, since some of the prefixes are similar to French words. Centi = cent = 100 Milli = mille = 1000
@sciencegirl, how about posting one of the problems you're working on. Then, this way, we'll know what kinds of problems you're working with and get a better idea of how to help you.
18km = _______ gallons
Oh, you didn't say that you were CONVERTING metric to imperial.
sorry wrong thing
kilometers to gallons? Distance and volume does not match
18km= ______centimeters
Okay, now we have something we can work with
So first, I would re-write it as this: 18km = x cm The x would obviously represent the unknown you're trying to find.
Next, we have m on both sides, so divide both sides by m to eliminate it: 18k = x c
Now, k = 1000, c = 1/100: 18*(1000) = x/100
Isolate x by multiplying both sides by 100: 18,000(100) = x
1,800,000 = x
Therefore 18km = 1,800,000 cm
Thanks !!!!!!!!
