Which of the following would most likely not occur in an organism unable to undergo apoptosis when necessary? tumor development reduced cell count altered signal response fluctuating ATP levels loss of some cell functions
I know this is basically cell suicide. Without apoptosis, an organism may not develop normally, be unable to keep a proper balance of new and older cells, and be unable to defeat diseased or infected cells.
would it be tumor development? If I were to make my guess it would be here. Reduced cell count sounds strange if it can't undergo apoptosis ~assuming altered signal response ~ that confuses me ><"
you have the apoptosis concept right but the question is worded ambiguously.. "Which of the following would most likely NOT occur in an organism UNABLE to undergo apoptosis when necessary" double negative you can reword it as "Which of the following would most likely occur in an organism able to undergo apoptosis when necessary"
That is a double negative.. not and un ..I didn't catch that either. Um, well.. I'm not too sure what they mean by altered signal. I'm not too sure where atp takes place in cell death, and apoptosis helps things function. Would it be reduced cell count? That's a guess, or an assumption again.
yeah, i know it uses ATP but i don't see why it would fluctuate.. the only one that makes sense (and its kinda too obvious which is why it seems wrong but maybe thats what their going for haha) is the reduced cell count
i have to go ! have good night and good luck on your test !
Thank you, very much.. You were a great help, I mean it! I learned a lot more then I expected! You have a good nights rest, I'll do my best on the test! >=D I'll watch out for wording like in the last two questions :D
no problem at all, grasshopper :) haha thanks, i actually get to sleep in tmrw woo .. and by sleeping in i mean till 830 haha do watch out for the wording, thats what multiple choice q's are all about! night!
