The transitive property of equality states for any real numbers a, b, and c: If a = b and b = c, then a = c. For example, 5 = 3 + 2. 3 + 2 = 1 + 4. So, 5 = 1 + 4. Another example: a = 3. 3 = b. So, a = b.
