how would you cite a famous quote in MLA form?

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

I'm not completely sure about MLA, but for APA if it is a well know quote it only has to be cited with the author's name. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. - Abraham Lincoln This is because it is usually far to difficult to track down the actual source and it is usually well-known enough that most people know that it was said by that person, in this case Abe Lincoln. If the quote is somewhat obscure and you do not have access to the original document it was recorded in use the document that you found the quote in. As I said this is for APA, but I imagine rules are similar in this regard when it comes to MLA.
