x=9

Could you help with one more? Find an equation of the line through (2,5) and parallel to y=4x-4. write the equation using the function notation.

ok, for this one, you need to use the point-slope formula. y-y1=m(x-x1) where (x1, y1) is a point that the new line goes through and m is the slope of the new line. the slope of the new line must be 4 because it has to be parallel to the line y=4x-4 (the slope of this line is 4, and 2 parallel lines have the same slope) so m = 4. next, plug in x1 and y1 (the ordered pair (2,5)) into the formula, and simplify

y=8x+5 ?
