A weather reporter stated the amount of water that flooded 1 kilometer of a roadway was 30,000 gallons. If car accidents occur when the water reaches 30,000 liters per 0.5 kilometer, would the cars be in danger of an accident? Explain your answer. (Hint: 1 liter = 0.26 gallons.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. first, figure out how many liters have flooded one kilometer. 30000gallons in liters is 115384.62 liters. if the danger rate is 30000liters/.5 kilometers, then a proportional rate is 60000 liters/kilometer. Since theres more than 60,000 liters that did flood the roadway in the 1 kilometer, then the cars are in danger
