develop two alternative hypotheses and experiments on the problems of acid rain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hypotheses: 1. Acid rain is caused by the burning of fossil fuels by humans, and the release of their products into the atmosphere. 2. Acid rain is a naturally occurring phenomenon, and is not correlated to any human activity. For a hypothesis, just try and think of a possible explanation for the phenomenon. Experiments: 1. Burn fossil fuels in a sealed container, and then test the contents for the various molecules that contribute to acid rain. If they are there, it is evidence in support of the hypothesis. If they are not, it is evidence against the hypothesis. 2. This is not really a testable hypothesis. For the experiments, just try and recreate the conditions in a lab setting, and see if things happen the way that your hypothesis predicts
