Figure 8 shows three masses (6kg, 2kg, and 1kg) hung by threads. ---------- l l l 5 kg l l l l 2 kg l l l l 1 kg l thats what the diagram looks like that i found the tension on th bottom to be 9.8 but how do you figure out the tension of the middle and top?

just draw a free body diagram.tension in bottom would be 9.81. in middle total weight would be (1+2)*9.81 and the tension in middle string would be 3 times of the bottom. similarly on top string tension would be 8(1+2+3) times of the bottom.
