8x-5y=-17 and -2x+y=6 solve by using any algebraic method.
You can multiply the second equation by 4 to get: -8x + 4y = 24. Now, you can add this to the first equation to get: -y = 7 --> y = -7. Now, we substitute this into the second equation: -2x + (-7) = 6 --> -2x = 13 --> x = -6.5. Thus, our solution is: \[ \Large {\boxed {(-6.5, -7)}}. \]
