25= -7(y-3)+5y Given 25= -7+21+5y Distributive Property 25= -2+21 Substitution Property 4=-2y+21 ? -2=y Division Property(=)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the substitution property where does the 5y go?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the question is asking what the step is after substitution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get it though... you have -7 then it becomes -2 and you lose 5y then suddenly a -2y comes out of no where.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the one with the questionmark after it, it should be 4=-2y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there we go...then it's subtraction property of equality because we are subtracting 21 from each side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how does the problem even work I dont really understand the whole thing.... Like how do you get from the given to the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's just like you were solving it, but they do the steps for you and you have to explain what they're doing.

okay Thanks for the help! (:
