If cells are placed in a solution with a high concentration of solute water will?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

haha nice name. well, water would be drawn by osmosis (which is the movement of water across a semipermeable membrane) to equalize the concentrations on both sides of the membrane. so if your concentration of solute was higher outside of the cell, water from the cell would diffuse outwards, shrinking the cell. Like what happens when you're in the bathtub for while.
