Hi, I have a general question about the IEEE 754 floating format. For a 64-bit computer, 1 bit is used to store sign, 11 bits for exponent, and 52 bits for mantissa. In lecture 5, John said this is equivalent of 17 decimal digits precision. Where does this '17 digits' come from? Thanks.
