All of these scrambled words are supposed to be used in a sentence to tell the time of day. The sentence is trying to say "It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon." Whenever we're telling time, we start with "Son las..." and then we say a number. In this case, "cuatro." And then we say the time of day, whether it's morning (de la mañana) afternoon (de la tarde) or night (de la noche). See? Just 3 easy steps. So, to say, "it's 4 o'clock in the afternoon," we would say "Son las cuatro de la tarde." There is only one exception to the very first step: If we're ever telling the time, and the hour is 1, we say "es la" instead of "son las." For example, 1 o'clock in the afternoon would be.... "ES LA una de la tarde."
