Use the Rational Root Theorem to list all possible rational roots of the polynomial equation x^3 – x^2 – x – 3 = 0. Do not find the actual roots. –3, –1, 1, 3 1, 3 –33 no roots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do you know anything about the rrt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No , sadly . . . :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its cool, its not hard you take the leading exponential's(x^3) coefficient and the constant (3) and arrange them like so 3/1, 1/1, -1/1, -3/1 So that would be all the numbers that they are divisible by, plus their negatives.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and always the constant over the leading coefficient.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so are they always gonna be over 1 ? like /1 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not always. if it had been 3x^3 - x^2 - x - 3 = 0 then you would have 3/3; 3/1; 1/3; 1/1 and etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh , i see now . thanks for helping me . .(:

no probs
