I need to know how to solve the following application problem (it's either product or quotient rule): The number of bacteria in a culture has been doubling every four hours and is currently 380,000. How fast is the bacteria population growing right now, in terms of number of bacteria per hour?

OpenStudy (precal):

were you given a function?

OpenStudy (precal):

seems like exponential growth y=2^x is the doubling function

OpenStudy (precal):

not sure how to factor in the 4 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you think it's product or quotient rule?

OpenStudy (precal):

no we use those rules in calculus, not sure this is a calculus problem seems like a precal or algebra II problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its for a calculus class.

OpenStudy (precal):

sorry, I believe you are missing other information

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thanks anyways.
