SOMONE PLEASE D: Without graphing is the system dependent or inconsistent?!?! Help with this(: y=2x-8 2x-y=8

I don't know the definitions, but it has no specific solution since both equations are actually the same. It is not the case where there is no solution, there is an infinite number of them. Looking at the definitions now it should help.

the system is dependent, I'm pretty sure... one equation depends on the other.

but I agree... the key is to look at the definitions. Systems can intersect in one unique point... one solution. They can overlap completely, like this one... both lines are the same, "intersecting" everywhere, so they have infinite solutions. Or lines can be parallel, not intersecting, and the system will have no solutions. Parallel would look like y = 2x + 4 and y = 2x + 6... same slope, different y-intercept... parallel, not intersection, so no solutions.
