4x+6<-6 4x+6>6 -6 -6 -6 -6 ____________ ________________ 4x< -12 4x> 0 x<? x>?
4x + 6 < -6 Subtract 6 to each side. 4x + (6 - 6) < -6 - 6 4x < -12 x < -3
*subtract 6 FROM each side.
x is anything less than -3. This means that x could be -4, -5, -6 and so on. If you follow that pattern, the equation will always be logical. For example, plug in -4 into the equation. 4(-4) + 6 < -6 -16 + 6 < -6 -10 < -6 True or false? True.
