I am clueless. 19yrs out of math. finding the x-intercepts of the parabola y=2x^2-4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use a graphing calculator.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you just need to factorise the quadratic by letting it equal zero, x intercepts occur where y = 0 so 0 = 2x^2 - 4x or 0 = 2x(x - 2) so the values of x that make the equation true are x = 0 or x = 2 so these are the intercepts,.

hmmmm... where does (0,0) come into play...

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

its a point on the number plane where the parabola cuts the x axis |dw:1351626075113:dw|
