what is a good text editor for beginners using python? i'm currently using windows vista...

I would *very* warmly suggest you read the following chapter of Swaroop’s “A Bite of Python”: as it handles exactly that in a very concise and neutral way: http://www.swaroopch.com/notes/python_en-first_steps/ P.S. Please, let’s avoid a text-editor war.

Thanks! I'll look it up.

Remember that there is no One True Way™, but you should try and find a powerful enough text editor that suits you. For me this is Vim, but I understand the reasons why others prefere Emacs. There are other good text editors out there, but these two are considered to be the biggest and baddest of them all.

Notepad++ would be a good one to use.
