Can You Help Me? Explain How You Got The Answer? Is x = 1 a solution of the equation 2 – 8x = –6? (1 point)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes all u do is sub in 1 to the x and u get -6

First you subtract two from both sides, giving you "-8x=-8" Then you divide -1 from both sides (to make the 8s positive, which is easier to deal with) giving you "8x=8" Finally you divide 8 from both sides, giving you "x= (8/8)" or just "x=1"
