a college student earned 8200 during summer vacation working as a waiter in a popular resturant. the student invested part of the money at 10% and the rest at 7 %. if the student recieved a total of 664 in interest at the end of the year how much was invested at 10 % a.3000 b.1171 c.5200 d.4100

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hmmm, what type of interest? looks like we should prolly assume simple interest

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ideally you have to sets of cash; lets call them a and b a + b = 8200 ; thats how much you got during the summer you divvy it up such that a(12*10%) + b(12*7%) = 664 for the different interest rates

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this gives us 2 equation in 2 unknowns to play with
