8x^2 - 6x - 5 = 0 8x^2 - 10x + 4x - 5 = 0 2x(4x - 5) + 1(4x - 5) = 0 (4x- 5)(2x + 1) = 0 4x - 5 = 0 2x + 1 = 0 4x = 5 2x = -1 x = 5/4 x = -1/2
