does any one know how to do sales tax

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What is the total (ignoring sales tax)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so the total bill (ignoring tax) is $32.20 and the sales tax is 6% ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (precal):

6 % is .06 just multiply that to the sales ie buying 30 dollars worth of stuff 30 times .06=1.80 is the sales tax

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you would then add 6% of 32.20 onto 32.20 6% of 32.20 is (6/100)*32.20 = 1.932 Therefore, 6% of $32.20 is $1.93 Add this to the total to get $32.20 + $1.93 $34.13 This means that the total (including the sales tax) is $34.13

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

A short cut is to multiply the total by 1.06 and you'll get the same answer (and save a step or two)

so true, so true
