Is x - 8 a factor of the function f(x) = -2x3 + 17x2 - 64?

Easy question. If "a" is a solution for a polynomial then there is a theorem that states that (x-a) must be a factor. So plug in 8 for x and see if it equals to 0. If it does, then (x-8) is a factor. If not then it is not a factor. Hope that helped. :)
