In terms of being a conformist, a good mother follows child care traditions as old as the human race. Since the beginning of recorded time mothers have breast fed their children, held them to keep them warm in the cold, watched them and kept them near so they stayed safe from ancient predators of modern cars. As the global infant morality rate continues to decrease, as the population continues to grow exponentially, as children live longer and healthy lives world wide, we can look to the aggregate, or conformist, attitudes and techniques of motherhood as a model for successful child rearing.
