Determine whether the series converges or diverges: (1/3) + (1/6) + (1/9) + (1/12) + (1/15) + . . .

I know that the formula for this would be 1/3n. Also, I know that it diverges... but I don't exactly know why. Is it because it is just the harmonic series multiplied by 3?

Yah that's a good way to explain it! :) the harmonic series multiplied by 1/3. You could also relate it to the ummm p-series, it's a p-series with p<=1.
