After Linda is seated in a restaurant. she realizes that she only has $30. From this $30 she must pay a 7% tax and she wishes to leave a 15% tip on a price of the meal before tax. What is the maximum price for a meal that she can afford to pay?

hero (hero):

x = price of the meal The total cost of the meal including tax and tip must be less than $30: x + .07(x) + .15(x) < 30 x + (.07 + .15)x < 30 x + (.22)x < 30 x + .22x < 30 1.22x < 30 x < 30/1.22 x < 24.59 Thus the price of the meal must be less than or equal to $24.59
