Harold bought 18 toys for his nieces and nephews. The least expensive toy cost $7.13, and the most expensive toy cost $12.87. Which is the best estimate for the total amount Harold spent on the toys he bought for his nieces and nephews?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One way you could estimate would be to average the most and least expensive toys, and then to multiply that average by all 18 toys. It would basically be assuming that all toy prices would average out to the same as the average of the hi and low prices. So average would be = (7.13 + 12.87) / 2
