A force of 9.0 x 10^-5 N is the force of attraction between Mass A and Mass B at a certain distance apart. If the mass of Mass B is doubled (but Mass A stays the same), what is the value of the force between the two masses at the same distance?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

What is the equation for the Force between 2 objects?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the attraction is due to gravity, then you are using the equation \[F=\frac{ GMm }{r ^{2} }\] Doubling mass A (and keeping everything else the same) doubles the force. For comparison, tripling the distance makes the Force 1/9 what it was.
