A membership to Movie Night Movie Club costs $10, plus $2 per movie. Write the linear equation for this problem in y=mx+b form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of the y-intercept as the membership cost without having rented any movies yet. It's your up-front out-of-pocket cost. Hint: the value is given in the problem statement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, think of your "x" as the number of movies rented. You can get an idea of the line if you calculate values for total cost for "0 movies rented" (previous post) and then "1 movie rented" and then "2 movies rented" , etc., until you get a feel for the character of the line.

so whay is the answer cuz i am lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, don't just jump to the answer. Jump to understanding, and then you will be able to construct the equation. We tutors are not supposed to just give out answers, nor students ask for only answers as no learning takes place then. Plus warnings are then given. If you are lost, we'll take it slow and go from the beginning. What is the up-front cost before renting any movies?

what the heck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the answer yes or no sheeesh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I know the answer. More importantly, I know the methodology for getting the answer, and I am more than happy to teach you the method. It is a step-wise process and you are expected to participate actively. You can start by answering my last question. It is at the end of my last post.
