3x-15=4x+2

whats the question distribute or show u how to do it properly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you can subtract from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Combine like terms. 3x - 15 = 4x + 2 Add 15 to both sides. 3x = 4x + 17 Subtract 4x from both sides. -x = 17 Divide both sides by -1. x = 17 /-1 So what is x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-17

Right. (:

thanks

Welcome. (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

combine like terms: add 15 to both sides, so now its 3x=4x+17 next you want to combine both of the x's so subtract 4x from both sides and now its -x=17. because the variable only has a sign that automatically makes it a negative 1x. so divide both sides by -1 and you get x=-17 :) i hope that helped
