Classify 3x^5 - 8x^3 - 2x^2 + 5 by number of terms.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

how many terms can you count/

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

iff the is exactly one term its a monomial iff the is exactly two terms its a binomial iff the is exactly three terms its a trinomial iff there is exactly four terms its a quadrinomial iff there is exactly five terms its a quintinomial ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so there are four terms here: 3x^5 8x^3 2x^2 5 So, its a quadrinomial. Thanks to Rakhus too xD

sam (.sam.):

Normally when more than 3 terms they would call it polynomial, but quadrinomial works too.
