I need some help with writing a hypothesis. A Hypothesis is supposed to explain why something happens and be an educated guess. In my notes, professor said that our hypothesis should be clear, explanatory, explicit and accurate as possible. All that being said, I'm torn between two hypotheses. 1) I hypothesis that as the concentration of a competitive inhibitor increases, enzyme activity will slow down for the desired reaction. OR 2) I hypothesis that as the concentration of lactose increases, enzyme activity will decrease. I feel that #1 isn't very specific, but I feel that #2 is predictive.

So my question is, which is better?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i like the first half of 1) and the second half of 2) 3) As the concentration of a competitive inhibitor increases, enzyme activity will decrease

Well I guess that works. I was going to ask if that is too vague, but it isn't... so it must be specific enough. Thanks for the input!
