A city wants to plant maple and spruce trees to absorb carbon dioxide. It has $2100 to spend on planting spruce and maple trees. The city has 45,000 ft squared available for planting. a. Use the data from the table. Write the constraints for the situation. b.Write the objective function. c. Graph the feasible region and find the vertices. d. How many of each tree should the city plant to maximize carbon dioxide absorption?
*The graph is read as follows: Planting cost of Spruce: $30 Area required for Spruce: 600 ft squared Carbon dioxide absorption: 650 lb/yr Planting cost for Maple: $40 Area required for Maple: 900 ft squared. Carbon dioxide absorption: 300 lb/yr.
I am so lost on this!
this is linear programming question and have you learnt anything about it yet?
I have learned a little. I wrote 2 equations to solve for M and S and got the s and M are both < or = 30, if I did it right
I started out by writing 30s + 40m <= 2100 600s + 900m <= 45,000
sorry I had some internet problems, those equations you wrote are correct.
do you know how to do b?
No I dont, and Im confused on what to put for A for the constraints.
