Being a citizen doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be born in the U.S.. You can come from any country and still be a citizen, but in order to be a citizen a person must get a greencard for at least five years. You have to learn to read and write and speak english. You must also unterstand and learn about the american government and history. You are required to take a test about the basics of american history.
